The expression of thoughts and feelings using words and word pictures online is the focus of this workshop. Examples from clients’ email communication will set the scene. A series of experiential exercises will flex Our emotional muscles and extend our emotional vocabulary.

About this presenter:

Jeannie Wright is currently director of counselling and psychotherapy programmes at the University of Warwick. She was Associate Professor in Counselling at Massey University, NZ for five years and is a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. She has been a senior accredited practitioner with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy since 1993.

She started using e-mail (nervously) for online counselling In 1997, at the request of a prospective client at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. Subsequently, as staff counsellor at Sheffield University 1999 – 2005, she pioneered and championed email counselling.

Her doctoral study and current research focus is on the therapeutic potential of expressive and reflective writing and the use of the Internet as a vehicle for therapy and supervision.
